Ballet, Yoga, and a Little Hip Hop

SuperSTAR

*thank you for this amazing picture, Jenni*

It's crazy to think Jayla's been in dance (both tap and ballet) for six months now. She's had two dance recitals (one at Glendale Glitters, and one at Oasis Gymnastics). Both these recitals were over the holidays. As I look back at these videos, I see how much Jayla has grown, in just these past two months. I believe we have a little superstar. Just a few weeks ago, Jayla was invited to try out an older girls class, because she's been doing so well. Miss D said, "she's the most coordinated kid in the class, and grasps shifting her weight when needed, and follows instructions very well". This was a shock to me because she is very stubborn. Jayla does what she wants, when she wants; sometimes she feels like doing the dance moves, and sometimes she does not. The other kids ALWAYS do it. But, Miss D, said, "Jayla has the cutest attitude, and even through her stubbornness she is a very good dancer." Miss D, Casey, and Teacher Renee, all adore Jayla. We couldn't be happier with these past six months in dance, and this past year in gymnastics at Oasis Gymnastics.

Here's her first dance recital at Glendale Glitters. She was all smiles, and did her own version of the dance to her HUGE cheering crowd. We are so thankful for everyone who came out to support little Miss Jay.
Daddy was very nervous for his little princess, and I even shed a few tears backstage. We were so proud of her!

Here was her second dance recital at Oasis Gym. They did an amazing job setting up a stage, and providing plenty of chairs for everyone to enjoy a closer look at their superstars.
Jayla did NOT do as well this time. She was embarrassed (for getting told NO, from her teacher. You'll see why), but gave it her best shot. She was definitely the most memorable of the group (lot's of laughs and awes).

Jayla was super excited walking around Glendale Glitters, and waiting to go on stage.

My little Blondie. Jayla said, "my hair looks like Sleeping Beauty".

Waiting backstage for her second dance recital.

Jayla and her friend Sophia.

All the girls...

Waiting for Santa.

A surprise visit from the North Pole.

Afterwards...
Jayla has her 3rd dance recital, coming up in June, at Ironwood High School. We would love to have a HUGE cheering crowd again. Please let us know if you'd be interested so I can sent you more info. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE who's come in the past! Jayla, like any girl, LOVES the attention, and we LOVE seeing you.

Jayla Goes to the Dentist

We got up bright and early this morning (6:45 am) for Jayla's first dentist appointment. I've been wanting to take her while she was 2 years old, since this is recommended by many. Procrastination, not finding a good referral to a pediatric dentist, and the fact that she was very late at getting teeth (she still has one last molar to come in), led us to making it this late.

We found an AWESOME, FUN place to take Jayla to. Her friend from dance class gave us the great referral. Jayla's appointment was set first thing in the morning. She was not able to eat or drink anything before the appointment. They take x-rays, and kiddo's this young have a bad gag reflux; no eating and drinking leads to less coming out if they were to vomit. So this is why we were there so early. Don't mind Jay's outfit and hair, we rushed out of the house to make it in time.

Jayla was super excited to go. We often talk about her sugar bugs, and how important it is to have shiny white teeth. She knew the dentist would help us get rid of all the sugar bugs we could not reach, and give us a cool prize at the end.

Kids-R-Cool Dentistry was amazing. It's perfect for kids, and the staff was even more friendly than I could imagine.
Jayla loved this game zone area while we waited.

X-ray time. She only got one of her front teeth. No vomit, she just kept spitting out the x-ray film, of course whiling gagging. She was still all smiles.

Time for her cleaning...

She looks so big (maybe because she'll be 3 tomorrow)

They give all kids these cool glasses to wear while cleaning.

After the hygienist was done cleaning, polishing, flossing, vitamins were brushed on her teeth (with her new tooth brush), and the dentist came in to take a closer look. She loved every second of this.
The dentist and hygienist reported Jayla's teeth in perfect shape. They both said she had no plaque build-up, and that mommy and daddy were doing a GREAT job cleaning her teeth. They also said she has very good strong teeth, and recognized that we don't give her much juice. We got the chance to see her 'big girl' teeth and her baby teeth, on the x-rays. Her big teeth are HUGE. We determined she will most likely need braces, because her teeth now are perfectly straight, with no gaps, or room, for those HUGE teeth to grow, when they come in.

Jayla is looking forward to her next appointment, scheduled in 6 months. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of her, and that she LOVED the dentist. I'm happy we were able to take her before she turned 3... One day before counts-HA!
