Swim Lessons

Last week Jayla started her swim lessons for the summer. We decided to sign her up through the city of Peoria. Her classes are 4 days a week for 30 minutes a day. It was super cheap and I was a bit skeptical if they would even be worth it, but they totally have been!! She has learned so much, in just one week. Daddy and Jay practice, in our pool, and practice definitely makes perfect. She now completely dunks her head all the way under the water, all on her own. She's never been afraid of the water, but this was something she was not interested in doing, before we started these lessons. I'm so proud of her already!! My goal is to have her swimming on her own, at summers end. I know this is possible, because my friend's little man was swimming at age 2 & 1/2. Here's to hoping!!!

My blond little beauty!!
Hanging out with teacher Mike and some of her boyfriends!
I love Jayla's head full of hair. It is actually longer than mine now! LUCKY GIRL!
Teacher Mike makes all the kids hold onto the side of the wall, until it is their turn for kicks, arms, etc. This one is Jay's favorite, blowing bubbles.
Her and Luke (little cutie and Mr. personality) practicing their bubble blowing and leg kicking!
Off swimming on her own (not really, she can stand there)
They play this little game of hide and seek... All the kids have to go pick 2 toys out of the basket, come together in a circle, and then close their eyes, while counting to ten. Then teacher Mike throws all the toys somewhere in the pool for the kids to go find. As they reach for the toys, it forces them to put their face under water. Some of the kids (ok all) use their toes so their face doesn't go under water. It cracks me up every time!! Little smarty pants!
Grandpa comes quite often to watch his little angel swim. He loves her so much, and Jayla just lights up when she sees him watching, on the pool side. Thank you Grandpa for always making her day!
Anxiously waiting to dive in!
Someday we will make it down that big slide (42 inches is the rule). I wonder how many we have to go?!
So the rules state, in her preschool A group (ages 2-5), that parents have the option to join their kids, but unfortunately Jayla has issues with men she does not know too well (thanks to daddy), and wouldn't you know we have a man for a teacher. Anyway, daddy, for now, has to swim with Jay so she doesn't freak out. As long as teacher Mike doesn't touch her, she is cool and likes him.
Let's hope in the weeks to come it gets better. Jearel is the only parent in the water with his kid. JEEZ!

Hide and Seek game, again!

Jay's going under for a toy!
Sorry, more pictures of her hair. I just can't help myself.

This game, the kids pretend they are sleeping, while all the kids count quietly to 1-10 "o'clock" and then shout "WAKE UP", as the teacher (or daddy) throws them in the air. It is actually really cute, and teaches them the basics of floating on their back.
The toy basket for Hide and Seek.
All of Jay's friends and teacher Mike.

I am so proud of her for doing these swim lessons! There is no doubt in my mind that she will be swimming on her own by the end of summer!

Was so nice to talk to you today, felt like old times and our morning talks! Been awhile!

Can't wait to see you girls on Friday to hang by the pool!

I loved this post, so lots to say....

First off, HOW is it that your kid's hair is like down to her back, and my kid's FRO keeps growing OUT & UP, but not down?? haaa
But she seriously has such pretty hair, & it's funny that she's only 2 with those locks.

I had to laugh @ Jear Bear being the only parent in the pool with Queen Jay! At this rate, she's not going to be a blondie flirt like her Momma! hee heee

This definitely made me want to bring Camden to swim lessons again....now if we could only squeeze that in??
I've been working with her in our pool almost every night while Daddy's in school (to get the WEIGHT off my swollen a$$, and of course to teach Camden a few things!) Going under is definitely NOT her favorite. Michael does that part with her, since Mommy usually doesn't want to get her hair wet (& neither does Camden.) kee kee kee
